Knowledge Mobilization (KMb): Multiple Contributions & Multi-Production Of New Knowledge

Active Knowledge Mobilization (KMb)

Life is about living every day to the fullest and trying to make the world in which we live a better place to live in.  We can either contribute to making the world a better place to live in or contribute to making the world a worse place to live in! I believe sharing knowledge to improve our collective knowledge as human beings contributes to making the world a better place.

Many people compare life to a game.  Sometimes it’s a game on the field between competitors – other times it’s a game of obstacles we put ourselves through.  Either way we see ourselves as players in the game – not just spectators who are sitting in the stands watching other people do what they do.

Unfortunately, many people have relegated themselves to the position of only being a spectator.  This holds true for sharing knowledge and knowledge mobilization (KMb).  My guess is that usually, they don’t even realize that they’ve done so until it’s far too late for them to do anything about it.  Years can go by that end up being lost years if we’re not careful – and that would be a shame. Or worse, we haven’t participated in trying to make this world we live in a better place – not just for ourselves, but for everyone.

While I don’t believe that life is a competition – as many people would have us believe – I do believe that it’s important for us to be active participants in our lives rather than passive observers. And that holds true for sharing knowledge. We can all contribute to making the world a better place by being open to the knowledge of others and sharing the knowledge of our own life experience with others. Not all of us will be “knowledge stars” – but we sure can do a good job helping to make the world a better place by helping to share our own knowledge about important lessons of love, respect, understanding and the diversity of values and experiences that each of us has had that has developed our own life knowledge.  Sharing this life knowledge is what makes the world a better place to live in.

Get in there and play whatever role your life calls for you to play by sharing the knowledge that you have.  Share your knowledge with pride and dignity – whatever knowledge you have. Whenever we combine our knowledge with others – through knowledge mobilization (KMb) -we contribute to greater understanding and even policy development that brings about better social change by this greater understanding. Don’t just sit on the side-lines – be a knowledge mobilizer! Put yourself out there in the thick of knowledge sharing and enjoy it as much as you can.  We are all going to die someday – and we don’t know when that will be.  I’d rather die knowing that I shared knowledge to make the world a better place rather than die never knowing…or mobilizing knowledge.
